Most of her available funds went towards the facility and equipment. Funds started diminishing yet she still needed a fence surrounding the play yard in order to secure state licensure. The Lake County Microloan Program provided Sandra with guidance and education about opening her childcare business and loaned her the funds to build her fence and get licensed! Today, Sandra and her four employees provide child care at Safe Harbor Child Enrichment Center, Inc. for children ages 3-12. In addition to providing childcare, Safe Harbor also provides a part-time preschool, after school programs as well as outreach services to families, professionals and young children searching for guidance and support in behavioral, developmental, emotional, neurological and trauma related issues. "Our quality services are in high demand and the community has been so supportive," she said. Every day they keep growing and that's what she is most proud of! Read Safe Harbor's Brochure!! | In
March 1997, Reeve Parker founded Parker Precision, Inc., a small machine
shop that manufactures a variety of products from hydraulic fittings to
medical components. Starting out as a one man shop, Parker Precision quickly
grew to an 8-person operation.
The need for more equipment and space led to the purchase of a new building in Mentor. Cost overruns in that process were squeezing Parker's cash and his banker referred him to the Revolving Loan Fund. The new location is now up and running. "The process was smooth with no surprises and my experience with the Lake County Economic Development Center was rewarding because I now have an opportunity to grow and cater to our customer's demand more effectively. I am fulfilling my dreams!" Reeve Parker said. Now
Parker, his wife Maria, and employees are enjoying working in a new building
with new machinery knowing they are contributing more to the community.

American
Dream Publishing |
| Michelle Howard loves to help businesses market themselves. She has over
15 years experience in marketing. But in 2002, she decided to become an
entrepreneur. She was most interested in marketing real estate. A real estate
investor for several years, Ms. Howard wanted to combine work and hobby.
In January 2003, American Dream Publishing was born, which publishes American Dream Homes Magazine. The mission of the publishing company is to "become the ultimate showcase magazine of homes for sale by realtors and to form a partnership with each customer to sell homes fast, cost-effectively and with a professional image." In December 2003, Ms. Howard received a Quick Capital loan for $5,000 that has enabled her to recruit top selling realtors to advertise in her magazine. Clientele includes John DeSantis and Linda Spotz of Realty One as well as Robin Burton and Deb Wyckoff of ERA Lentz/Euclid. She also works with top companies Smythe Cramer, Century 21-Zervous Group. Her success is flourishing. With these new funds, Ms. Howard was also able to start a project called the Lake County Restaurant Guide. This guide will promote Lake County restaurants to residents inside and surrounding the county. The Service Corps of Retired Executives (SCORE) counselors as well as the Lake County Microloan Program have provided Ms. Howard with the expertise and resources she needed to have a successful start. "My experience with the Center has been educational. It provides me with resources I never thought possible. The networking process has been valuable to the magazine's success," she said. "American Dream Publishing, the key to your dreams!" |
